1. Nantucket, MA

As far as romantic beach getaways in New England go, Nantucket is among the top destinations. Along ith visiting Surfside, Cisco, Wauwinet, Jetties or Madaket Beach, there is so much to do on the island of Nantucket. There is an amazing Whaling Museum as well as picturesque lighthouses to visit. And the quaint shops and restaurants in town are perfectly suited to spending a lazy afternoon strolling around.

2. Cape May, NJ

One of the country’s oldest vacation destinations, Cape May, NJ is well suited for romantic beach getaways. Cape May beaches are some of the most beautiful in the state. There’s plenty of white sand and blue water to enjoy and many of the beaches have great amenities. Along with hitting the beach, you can visit the Cape May Lighthouse, take a food tour, see the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation museum, or take a scenic boat tour.

3. Nags Head, NC

Nags Head on the Outer Banks of North Carolina has eleven miles of beach, so when you visit there will be plenty of opportunities to get your feet in the sand. A good place to visit during your time in Nag’s Head is Jockey’s Ridge State Park, where you can see the largest sand dune on the East Coast.  Popular activities here include parasailing and paragliding, sightseeing tours, and visiting Bodie Island Lighthouse.

4. Little St. Simon’s Island, GA

If your perfect romantic beach getaway includes getting away from it all and being a bit more isolated, then Little St. Simon’s Island is perfect for you. There are also things to do off of the beach including visiting the St. Augustine Wild Reserve, taking a historical tour, seeing Castillo de San Marcos, and visiting St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum.

6.  Flagler Beach, FL

Flagler Beach is something of a hidden gem on the Florida coast. Rather that becoming crowded and developed like some beach communities in the state, Flagler Beach has developed into a unique and quiet place to enjoy the Florida coastline. This makes it the perfect place for romantic beach getaways. Six miles of beautiful beach await visitors, and there is plenty of room as the beach is uncrowded.  There are also great spots for fishing, wonderful dining options, and quaint shops.

7. Monterey, CA

Monterey is a fantastic California beach destination. Picturesque beaches in populate Monterey and a good way to experience them is to explore Garrapata State Park, Monterey Bay, or trek the Monterey Peninsula Recreational Trail. There is also an aquarium in town, lots of wine tastings and tours, and sightseeing tours.

8. Eureka, CA

Eureka, California might be an unexpected destination for romantic beach getaways, but the town’s charm and the beauty of the shore will quickly change your mind. This northern California gem is full of natural wonder on and off the beach. The town is full of colorful and well preserved Victorian homes and the classic California coastline is enchanting. There are multiple hiking trails and paths to explore the surrounding, you won’t be disappointed in a trip to Eureka.
