Running through the heart of town is 60 miles of canal along the Deleware River, which still features four original locks and the restored Locktender's House. This canal is, in large part, what makes the area so incredibly beautiful—combined, of course, with the historic architecture and quaint charm that you'll find around every corner. 

Just walking along the beautiful streets is one of our favorite things to do in New Hope, PA, but there's honestly so much more to enjoy. Here are some of our favorite things to do in New Hope, PA.

  1. Get yourself oriented with the town by taking a walking tour put together by the New Hope Historical Society. They also offer tours of Parry Mansion, which was built in 1784 by one of the town's founders.
  2. Don't miss one of New Hope's most famous buildings, the Bucks County Playhouse. The building itself was a former grist mill and was later saved from demolition and turned into the beautiful playhouse it is today. Over the years, a veritable who's who of American theatrical royalty have passed through these doors. 
  3. New Hope is one of the best food destinations in Bucks County, with a variety of outstanding restaurants to enjoy. 
  4. Walk along the Delaware River canal at Deleware Canal State Park.
  5. With so much history here, it's probably no surprise that there are fun ghost tours to take in the town. It's one of the most unique things to do in New Hope, PA!
  6. Shopping is another of our favorite things to do in New Hope, PA, and there's no shortage of it. Main Street is filled with unique shops and boutiques.
  7. Walk through the beautiful Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, featuring more than 700 incredible native species.

  9. Browse the Ferry Market, appreciating all the local goods produced and made in the surrounding area. It's a great place to pick up lunch!
  10. Visit the New Hope Arts Center, a beautiful gallery dedicated to supporting local artists.
