The Basics
A country getaway set on a 3,365-acre mountain estate. The property offers river access for fly fishing and canoeing and miles of trails for hiking and biking. Soak in our wood-fired sauna by day or sit fireside in our pavilion by night. Family-owned for over 30 years, Fort Lewis is also a working farm, where produce is grown and the pastureland is used for grass-fed cattle. Your stay includes a seasonally-inspired breakfast and dinner.

Welcome
Fort Lewis Lodge & Farm is a country escape set on a 3,365-acre estate in the mountains of Virginia. Our twenty-three distinctive accommodations offer a rare mix of unpretentious elegance and unique architecture where every room has a view. Your stay is highlighted by a seasonally-inspired breakfast and dinner served in the historic Lewis Gristmill followed by a fire in our timber-framed pavilion in the evenings. Outdoor activities abound with hiking, biking, fly fishing, canoeing or simply relaxing by the pristine swimming hole. Family-owned for over 30 years, Fort Lewis is also a working farm, where fresh produce is grown on property, chickens and pigs are raised, and the pastureland is used for a grass-fed cattle herd. Dinner and breakfast are included with your stay.

Food & Wine
A few steps from the Lodge is the magnificently restored 19th century Lewis Gristmill where dinner and breakfast are served daily. Each day’s menu is chef’s choice and served family style, although dietary restrictions are accommodated. The menu is seasonally inspired. Dinners feature a grilled entrée along with numerous side dishes including vegetables just plucked from the farm’s own gardens and freshly baked breads. Beer and wine are available for order and homemade deserts are prepared nightly.

Fort Lewis is a rare combination of unpretentious elegance and unique architecture where every room has a view. In addition to the main Lodge, there are three "in the round" silo bedrooms, four hand-hewn log cabins with stone fireplaces, and the Riverside House - each perfect for a true country getaway. All our accomodations are hugged with porches, providing ample areas to enjoy the scenery or to just curl up with a good book. The spacious guest rooms are elegant and feature individual bathrooms. For the purist, spring water flows fresh from the tap. All rates include a seasonally inspired dinner and breakfast.

Guest Services
This 3,300-acre estate offers many activities from the serene to the adventurous. Located right on the Cowpasture River, guests are encouraged to swim, fish, tube or canoe. Kayaks and bikes are available free of charge and maps are provided to help you navigate our river and our numerous hiking and biking trails. For those looking to relax, there are many areas around the farm to set up an art easel or simply sit with a book and enjoy the view.
All rates include a fresh, seasonally inspired dinner and breakfast. Picnic lunches are available upon request.
