The Best Things to Do in Eureka Springs

There are so many things to do in Eureka Springs, and with a town steeped in history and natural beauty, it's no wonder. At its roots, Eureka Springs was known for - and named for - the healing springs that are found here. Today, this healing history and historic charm continue to appeal to tourists from around the world.

If you're visiting this summer, here are a few of our favorite things to do in Eureka Springs:

  1. Visit the inspiring beauty of Thorncrown Chapel, with its 6,000 square feet of glass (425 windows!).  It is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful things to do in Eureka Springs.
  2. Browse the historic district of downtown Eureka Springs, admiring the Victorian architecture and browsing the shops as you go. Make sure to stop into Basin Spring Park when you need a break.
  3. Visit the Blue Spring Heritage Center, where you'll find the beautiful Blue Spring to admire.
  4. Visit the big cats and animals at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge
  5. Visit the strange gardens and surroundings at Quigley's Castle
  6. Head underground at Cosmic Cavern, the largest cave of its type in Arkansas.
  7. Getting outdoors and enjoying the scenery is one of the best things to do in Eureka Springs. Head to Lake Leatherwood City Park for a paddle, hike, or bike ride.
  8. Head to the Buffalo National River for a hike, followed by a relaxing float on the river.
  9. Are you looking for unique things to do in Eureka Springs? Take a haunted ghost tour at the famous Crescent Hotel, which is known as America's most haunted hotel!
  10. Get out on the water on Beaver Lake! There are boat rentals available at local marinas, or you can take a cruise with Belle of the Ozarks.
Seeing fall foliage is one of the most beautiful things to do in Eureka Springs

Plan Ahead for Fall Foliage

When you think of great destinations in which to enjoy the stunningly vibrant beauty of fall, does Eureka Springs come to mind? It should! We know New England has a stellar reputation for fall foliage, and it certainly doesn't disappoint. But there are plenty of other, oftentimes underrated, destinations in which to enjoy the foliage.  Eureka Springs is one of those!

Enjoying fall foliage is one of the best things to do in Eureka Springs throughout the year. The weather is nice here in the fall, and the mountain hues are beautiful.  Here are a few of our favorite things to do in Eureka Springs in the fall:

  1. Take a hike at Hawksbill Crag. It offers some extraordinary overlooks of the Ozark Mountains. Other great hikes include those at Dogwood Canyon, which stretches across the Missouri-Arkansas border and offers exceptional views of the Ozark Mountains.
  2. Enjoy a hike or float on the Buffalo Natural River. It's great during the summer, but simply spectacular in fall.
  3. Take a scenic drive through the winding mountain roads of the Ozarks. Two great drives include the Scenic 7 Byway and the Pig Trail Scenic Byway.
  4. For a thrill ride through the Ozark Mountains and a whole new way to enjoy the fall foliage, visit Ozark Mountain Ziplines
  5. Attend one of the great events happening this fall in Eureka Springs.

Of course, all of this incredible fall foliage is best enjoyed at one of our Select Registry members. They tend to get busy in the fall, though, so make sure to book your room well in advance so you can enjoy this sensational fall getaway!
