From an exciting culture and great food to world-class attractions and unique cowboy culture, there's really no shortage of things to do in Oklahoma City.

10 Best Things to do in Oklahoma City

If you've never been to the exciting metropolis of Oklahoma City, you're in for a real treat!  Whether you're looking for a rich cultural experience filled with the arts or a more adventure-filled getaway in the great outdoors, you'll find that there are plenty of things to do in Oklahoma City. There are even plenty of quirky hidden gems throughout the city, where much of its charm comes from.

Whatever it is you'd like to do, we'd love to show you the very best of this amazing city.  Here are 10 of the best things to do in Oklahoma City next time you visit. 

  1. Visit the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, a monument to the horrific terrorist attack here in 1995. There's a new 40-foot glass overlook that offers beautiful views over the ever-changing Oklahoma City skyline. 
  2. Head to Scissortail Park, right in the heart of the city. There are beautiful gardens to walk through, as well as a lake you can kayak or standup paddleboard on. 
  3. Embracing the cowboy vibe is one of the top things to do in Oklahoma City, and you can do just that at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
  4. Head to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, which is home to one of the most comprehensive collections of Dale Chihuly Glass. This includes the including the 55-foot Elenor Blake Kirkpatrick Memorial Tower in the museum’s atrium.
  5. Take a water taxi through the charming Bricktown Canal, where you'll learn more about the history and businesses of this charming part of Oklahoma City. 
  6. A visit to Factory Obscura is certainly one of the most interesting things to do in Oklahoma City. This unique attraction is part art gallery and part immersive experience. It's an ongoing project, but the first permanent exhibit is an interesting homage to the mixtape. 
  7. There are 400 miles of drivable route 66 near Oklahoma City, where you'll find plenty of wonderful historical attractions worth exploring.
  8. For a fascinating glimpse into Oklahoma's past, head to the Oklahoma National Stockyards. It's The world’s largest stocker and feeder cattle market and hosts public auctions every Monday and Tuesday. 
  9. Check out the beautiful murals on the Plaza Walls of the Plaza District in downtown Oklahoma City. 
  10. Who knew Oklahoma City was so water-centric? A great way to experience watersports in the area is at Riversports in the Boathouse District. Here, you'll find a thrilling zip line across the river, a surfing simulator, stand-up paddleboards, kayaking, and Riversport Rapids, featuring Class II-IV whitewater rafting.
