The atmosphere is peaceful yet alive, perfect for reflection and discovery. It's clear that a lot of thought and care has gone into curating the collection. Aleo isn’t just a B&B—it’s an experience. If you love art, history, or just beautiful spaces, this is a must-visit.

I have never written a hotel review prior (despite 20 years of business travel) but the incredible experience I had at ALEO motivated me to do so.
The facility is truly beautiful. A converted church with original art in every room.

If I could have given 6 stars I would have.

We decided on a spur of the moment to spend a night in Detroit just before Christmas and it is a bit late but I totally wanted to leave a review. We LOVED our stay at the Aleo which is just next door and connected to The Shepard. We felt like we were in an extension of the beautiful art gallery which is within a former church, Every room was so thoughtfully designed and contained multiple pieces of art. The bedroom we stayed in had a view of the sculptures on the property and a very nice deck. The king sized bed was so comfy with crisp linen sheets. We had access to sitting rooms, full use of the kitchen, complimentary snacks and drinks (liquor was on an honor system basis). The grounds contained multiple sitting areas. We definitely intend to return when the weather warms up to further explore the nearby area and revisit The Shepard. Aleo will be a perfect homebase given the proximity to The Dequindre Cut bike path which takes you right down to the Riverwalk.

Stunning spot close to downtown! Felt like we’d snuck into an art gallery for a sleepover.
Bed was great, location was super quiet. Free off street parking and coffee in the morning downstairs. You can walk about 15 mins to West Village for a drink or breakfast at Norm’s diner.

We had such a wonderful stay at ALEO! It is a true gem of a place, and a real privilege to stay in such a warm and art filled environment.
