The Inn at English Meadows

A Charming Stay with an Outstanding Breakfast! We enjoyed a wonderful four-night stay at the Inn at English Meadows. Our party occupied two rooms: the #3 Quiet Moments Suite, which is in the first floor, features a king-size bed and a separate, spacious, comfortable family room, and #10, The Bungalow. The Bungalow includes two bedrooms, one small bathroom, a living room, gas’s fireplace, a small kitchen, and a charming porch with seating for four. Each bedroom has very comfortable one queen bed and excellent two twin beds. The sheeted are amazingly soft and high end! However, I wish the pillows and towels were more plush. Breakfast was delicious and a highlight of every morning. It is served from 8:00–10:00 a.m. and prepared by the owner, Dianne, on weekends. She is an exceptional chef. We also enjoyed relaxing in our rooms after long days. The Brie and apple appetizer paired beautifully with wine from the wine machine in the common area, which offers a great selection at fantastic prices. Guests should get their glasses early, however, since the machine may run out in the evenings when no one is available to replace a bottle :(. It happened both night and I was bummed. A few notes for improvement- the King Suite “Quite Moments” is situated just outside the main sitting area, which includes the wine bar, beverage station, and snack bar. Because the walls are quite thin, noise from that area carries easily into the room. If guests do not follow the quiet-hours policy and remain in the common area after 9:00 p.m., it is possible to hear virtually every conversation and movement outside the room. This can be quite aggravating when you are trying to sleep, so noise-sensitive guests may want to request a different room or confirm the quiet-hours policy before booking. Unfortunately, we experienced this the first 2 night and were quite frustrated. In addition, For future guests, daily housekeeping was not provided, although fresh towels were offered at breakfast and available upon request. Robes are also available upon request but are not placed in the rooms. Housekeeping in the Bungalow could use more attention to detail! Overall, this is a charming property with excellent breakfasts. If guests followed the 9:00 p.m. quiet-hours policy in the common areas, everything would be perfect. I recommend placing clear signs in these areas to remind guests of quiet time. There were no signs, and the policy was not mentioned to us at check-in. We learned about it only after bringing the noise issue to the inn’s attention. A simple solution with friendly signs in coffee table and on serving bar area would have prevented this issue. Dianne was present in the mornings and responded promptly to our questions and requests.
