Given Tryon's relatively small size, you might be surprised to find out that the Tryon Equestrian Center attracts horse lovers from all over the world. Most compete in events, but others soak in the atmosphere and watch the various races and horse events. Most competitions are free for the public to watch!
The Tryon Equestrian Center was built in 2015 and is most well-known for hosting the FEI World Equestrian Games in 2018. Each year, the Tryon Equestrian Center hosts 40 weeks of competition, including hunter/jumper and dressage events, with Olympic-level riders coming to compete from all over the country.
On most Saturday nights from spring through fall, the Tryon Equestrian Center hosts their Saturday Night Lights event, which features the highest level of competitive jumping. In addition to the horse-related events of the evening, these weekends are also a great time to enjoy some live music and a variety of dining and shopping.
The Tryon Equestrian Center features several restaurants, along with year-round and seasonal boutiques and specialty services. You can even book yourself a spa treatment here, should you so desire!
In the winter, the Tryon Equestrian Center transforms into a lighted winter wonderland. The Tryon Winterfest features a 2-mile drive-through light show, live performances from holiday characters, and a Christmas village. Details for the 2021 season have yet to be released.
