We absolutely loved our stay at Bourbon Barrel Inn Bed & Breakfast! From the moment we walked in and were greeted so kindly we knew we had picked a good one! Rich & Brian work hard to make you feel right at home! We originally booked two nights but that quickly turned to two additional nights because of how much we loved the hospitality, accommodations, great food and the new friendship we had formed! They go above and beyond and have thought of every detail to make your stay a great experience! We really appreciated the thought that went into the following: an extremely clean Inn, luxurious room decor and bed linens, beautiful en-suite bathroom, bedside slippers, pillow options, shower steamers and other essentials if you forgot your own, homemade jams, homemade breads, and made to order breakfast, evening social hour with appetizers, and baked desserts as you settle in each evening! We truly felt their motto: “Arrive as guest but leave as family”. We can’t wait to visit you again!

I travel frequently and have stayed at countless Inns over the years, but Rich and Brian have truly surpassed every expectation and every place I’ve stayed before. From the very first phone call to make the reservation, the experience was exceptional. Upon arrival, they welcomed me personally, helped with my luggage, and immediately made me feel at home. And then… the room. Absolutely speechless. The design and attention to detail were beyond stunning. Honestly, these two could be professional interior designers. Every element — the blend of wood and metal, the rich colors, the furnishings — was perfectly curated. And a B&B featuring Vera Wang bedding and towels? Completely unheard of. Luxurious in every sense of the word. Breakfast felt like dining in an upscale restaurant. The menu selections, presentation, and quality were simply unbelievable. What amazed me most is that they’ve been open less than a year. You would think they had been perfecting hospitality their entire lives. My husband and I really enjoyed their "evening post" social time where we got to get to know Brian and Rich better along with the history of the house. We left sad that our visit wasn't longer but can't wait to stay there again!

From the moment we arrived, it felt just like home. Rich and Brian are such wonderful hosts and great you upon arrival. They are so, welcoming, and always making sure you have everything you need for a perfect stay. Truly felt like family. The rooms were spotless and cozy and you can see how much thought is put into them. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious and huge portions. I highly recommend the French toast with the bourbon infused whip cream!!. Another huge plus is the location! It’s close to everything: shops, restaurants, and local attractions are just a drive away. It made exploring the area super easy and convenient. The back deck is the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. And don’t forget to pop in for happy hour with Rich and Brian. We honestly didn’t want to leave and are already talking about when we can come back. We created some amazing memories and have made friends and family for life. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable, homey getaway with amazing hosts!

Pour yourself a bourbon, settle in, and read on… Ilaria and I recently had the immense pleasure of staying at what is quite possibly the finest bed and breakfast we have ever visited — the Bourbon Barrel Inn in Louisville, Kentucky. We are fortunate enough to have stayed in some wonderful places over the years, and I pay a great deal of attention when planning our road trips, so our expectations for this stay were already incredibly high. Did Brian and Richard, the owners of Bourbon Barrel Inn, meet those expectations? No. They surpassed them in every possible way. From the very outset, communication was impeccable — warm, informative, and thoughtful. In a world increasingly dominated by lockboxes and remote check-ins, it was genuinely refreshing to arrive at a home where the owners actually greet you personally at the door, welcome you with a smile, and even help with your luggage. Hospitality is often promised; here, it is lived. The house itself has been meticulously renovated to an exceptional standard while preserving the soul and grandeur of the original building. Everywhere you look, beautiful architectural details remind you of the home’s history and character. You can truly feel it in the bones of the building. Our room on the third floor was simply stunning. On the way up, you pass a beautifully presented snack table filled with homemade treats for guests — a detail that perfectly captures the generosity and care that runs through the entire experience. The room itself was elegant, spacious, and incredibly inviting. Luxurious linens, multiple seating areas, and beautifully restored wooden floors filled the room with warmth and character. After settling in, we headed out for dinner at one of Brian and Richard’s excellent local recommendations. Breakfast the following morning was an absolute feast. Fresh toast and butter arrived alongside homemade jams — and you absolutely must try the cherry and bourbon jam. I found myself going back for more repeatedly. Hot coffee, tea, and fresh lemon were served before the main event arrived. Now, I’m not usually an egg person, but Ilaria tucked into perfectly prepared Eggs Florentine while I decided to embrace a true American classic and try biscuits and gravy. Why not? When in Rome… Words genuinely fail to describe how good they were. Soft, pillowy biscuits with beautifully caramelised bottoms, smothered in a rich, peppery sausage gravy that was deeply comforting and utterly addictive. They were so good that I ordered exactly the same thing again the following morning. After long days exploring the Bourbon Trail, returning to the inn each evening felt like coming home. Nightly appetisers and cocktails awaited us, and believe me when I say Brian makes a phenomenal Old Fashioned. His secret blend of bitters absolutely blew my socks off. Sadly, our stay came to an end far too quickly — although I’m not entirely convinced my waistline could have survived much longer. Daily temptations included handmade mini cheesecakes, cookies, gluten-free brownies, and my personal favourite: bourbon-infused chocolates with a light, fluffy centre, enrobed in dark chocolate and topped with pecan. To Brian and Richard: you truly embody hospitality. Your goal was to make us feel at home, and you absolutely achieved it. We arrived as guests and left feeling like family. We genuinely cannot wait to return to see our US family again.
