This was our second time coming to Cherry Ridge in Oct in the last 2 years. The Boat house is an amazing experience. We scheduled 3 nights, but after we arrived we had an emergency back home and had to leave. It was a very hard decision to leave a place you looked forward to for months. The staff was very sympathetic with our emergency and we hope to return next fall. We love Cherry Ridge.

A Beautiful Place to Celebrate 55 Years Together
After 55 years of marriage, my bride and I know that some of the best getaways are the ones that let you slow down, enjoy each other’s company, and simply appreciate where you are. Our three-night anniversary stay at Cherry Ridge Retreat gave us exactly that—and left us eager to return.
We’ve stayed at Caribbean all-inclusive resorts, and this lovely retreat in Hocking Hills holds its own among our favorite destinations. The Boat House was wonderfully comfortable and quiet, with a beautiful view of the lake and its surroundings. It was easy to settle in and let the rest of the world wait awhile.
One of my favorite moments was taking my bride for a leisurely tour of the lake in the supplied rowboat. The lake may be small, but the pleasure of sharing that time together was anything but. Sometimes the simplest moments become the memories you treasure most.
The meals, snacks, and in-cabin dining options made our stay even more enjoyable. Everything was so good that we never felt the need to go out. Having those comforts right there allowed us to spend our anniversary doing exactly what we wanted: relaxing and enjoying one another’s company.
And the staff? Wonderful. They made us feel welcome and cared for, with a sincere interest in making our stay everything we hoped it would be. That kind of hospitality makes a beautiful destination feel even more special.
The best compliment we can give is that we’ve already booked our next visit! We’re returning in the third week of October, this time to stay at the Observatory. We’re hoping for brilliant fall colors, clear skies, and beautiful views of the surrounding hills. We also plan to visit Old Man’s Cave and whatever other sights happen to catch our fancy—although we already know how tempting it is to stay put and enjoy the retreat!
Cherry Ridge Retreat gave us a wonderful setting for a milestone anniversary. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with someone you love, we wholeheartedly recommend it. We arrived ready to celebrate 55 years together and left looking forward to our next visit. That says it all.

We had expectations going on based on the site and pictures we saw before our stay. Cherry Ridge blew those expectations out of the water. The Observatory cabin is beautiful from the outside grounds to the cabin interior. The layout is cozy and romantic and that all helped set the scene for my proposal to my now fiancé.
The staff are friendly and prompt in their communications and are happy to help with anything during your stay. If we had any type of issue or question, it was promptly address and that made staying there even better.
The pool and hot tub were great and well maintained. The fire pit area was also perfect and situated perfectly along the wood line. Looking up from the fire at the clear, starlit night sky was a great feeling.
The telescope in the living room allows for stargazing and there are sheets to help you work it and tips on stargazing out the beautiful big picture window in the living room.
This is a place we will not soon forget and we are already looking forward to our next stay. I highly recommend the Observatory, but I really just recommend Cherry Ridge retreats in general as I'm sure all the rest of their property is just as great as the Observatory was for us.

Our first stay at Cherry Ridge Retreat for 4 nights, and we loved it! Every detail of the cabin, the amenities and the property was meticulously thought out. We enjoyed the 5 miles of well marked hiking trails on-site. Many deer with two little fawns that visited us each day. We stayed in the Whispering Pines cabin and it was perfect for the two of us to recharge. We hardly left the property because it was so nice. We will be back!
