10 Hocking Hills Trails to Try!

There's no denying it - Hocking Hills is exceptionally beautiful. There's truly a reason it's remained such a well-loved vacation destination over the years. As we mentioned before, there are 7 main areas of Hocking Hills trails on which to hike. These areas include Ash Cave, Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls, Whispering Cave, Conkle's Hollow, Cantwell Cliffs, and Rock House. 

We'll describe the most popular Hocking Hills trails in detail below, but notably, they are all one-way loop trails, which is a great way to keep the hiking experiences enjoyable for all, especially when it's busy. Along each of these trails, you'll enjoy an abundance of natural beauty unique features like bridges, caves, deep gorges, beautiful foliage, plentiful wildlife, and roaring waterfalls.

1. The most popular of all the areas in Hocking Hills is Old Man's Cave. Here, you'll have access to Upper Falls, Upper Gorge, Middle Falls, Lower Falls, and Lower Gorge. 
2. The Newest of the Hocking Hills Trails is the Whispering Cave/Hemlock Bridge Trail. It's one of the more challenging hikes in the park, but the gorgeous views and 100-foot waterfall are more than worth the effort. 
3. The only true cave in the park is Rock House.  It's 200 feet long, 20-30 feet wide, and 25 feet tall. 
4. If you're a fan of waterfalls, head to Cedar Falls, the largest in Hocking Hills. It's quiet, serene, and powerful, and something you certainly won't want to miss. 
5. In the northern part of Hocking Hills and away from the busier throngs of visitors is Cantwell Cliffs. There are trails on both the valley floor and along the rim, and it's a truly special area to enjoy some hiking. 
6. Combine both hiking and birdwatching with the Hocking Hills Trails at Conkle's Hollow Nature Preserve. It's an incredibly deep gorge, and the trail meanders along its floor. 
7. In the southern part of the park is Ash Cave, which is where you'll find the largest and most spectacular recessed cave, along with a seasonal waterfall.

It's true that hiking along the vast network of Hocking Hills Trails is the most popular activity to enjoy throughout the part, but it's certainly not the only way to experience Hocking Hills. 1. The Hocking River is a great place to enjoy a bit of canoeing, taking in the beautiful natural scenery in an entirely different way. 
2. Hocking Hills trails offer one way to see the park, but for an entirely new experience, try ziplining over the trees and enjoying the scenery in an adrenaline-pumping and beautiful way!
3. Rock Climbing & rappelling is popular in the park, thanks to the steep rock walls found here. 
4. There are several ranches in the area that offer horseback riding trips through beautiful hocking hills. 
5. In addition to hiking trails, there are also a few mountain biking trails that can be enjoyed in Hocking Hills.
