It’s not news that travelers today are looking for authentic travel experiences that connect them with the local area in which they are traveling. There are a myriad of ways to incorporate a sense of locale or local flavor into your guest experience — from incorporating local food into your breakfast menus to displaying art by local artists — the possibilities are endless.
Here a few examples of Select Registry properties that really shine at showing off their local area in unique ways that enhance the guest experience:
As you might be able to tell from the name, Chateau Bourbon is located on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and every detail at the property revolves around that fact. From the stocked bar in the parlor that features a selection of Kentucky bourbons to the complimentary bourbon cocktail and bourbon infused desert that they serve guests each evening, Chateau Bourbon is all about sharing their love of their local area with their guests.
There is nothing more central to sense of place in Savannah, GA than the iconic squares located throughout the city. The Inn on West Liberty has named each of their guest rooms after one of the city’s famous squares. In each room, they include a nice framed history of the square for which that room is named, allowing guests to learn a little about the history of the city in their room.
Sometimes a sense of place can be imparted in the smallest of details. The Inn at Castle Hill provides in each room a tote bag with beach towels for guests to borrow. The tote bag is imprinted with a nautical map of their beach, Crane Beach - a beautiful presentation of a unique local treasure.
