  4. Visit the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History, where you'll find six unique galleries and over 500 million years of natural history.

The Fred Jones Jr Museum of Art, located on campus at Oklahoma University, is considered one of the finest art museums on a University campus - and admission to this incredible gem is always free! 

The University museum houses an impressive permanent collection of more than 200,000 works from around the world, including those by famed artists such as Van Gogh, Degas, Renoir, Monet, Gaugin, Hopper, Georgie O'Keeffe, and so much more. 

In addition to their stunning selection of permanent works on display, there are a variety of exciting exhibits throughout the year. Current exhibitions include the following: 

  • Synesthesia is an immersive art experience by Factory Obscura inspired by the color and textural elements of the museum's collections. 
  • Rauschenberg, a collection of the artist's work, Currents, which collaged together headlines, photographs, advertisements, and articles from eight national newspapers in January and February 1970.
  • The museum's Eugene B. Adkins collection, which features a variety of American artworks and works from Native American artists. 
  • The Weitzenhoffer collection, which includes some of the masters of French Impressionism. 
  • The Ambassador and Mrs. George Crews Collection, featuring a range of icons from Greece, Russia, Romania, and Asia Minor and dates from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
  • A curated selection of the museum's Contemporary Art, which rotates over time.
