Things to See & DoIf you’re just in the beginning stages of planning your trip to the North Carolina beaches, you’ll quickly see that there is so much to see and do! One of our favorite cities on the North Carolina coast is Wilmington. There’s the beautiful beach, an aquarium, an indoor zoo and even a World War II battleship that has been turned into a museum. Wake up early and take a slow walk along the beach as the sun rises over the water, turning everything pink and gold and shimmering. It’s the perfect way to start your day!
Where to Eat and DrinkDid someone say seafood? With the ocean at our doorstep, there is no shortage of fresh seafood to be had along the North Carolina beaches! Whether you have an old favorite or you’re trying something new, you can’t beat the freshness of our sea-to-table restaurants. We are also known as one of the fastest growing areas in the country for craft beer! So pop the bottle top and get your crab bib ready because your dinner just got so much better. And be sure to save room for dessert! There’s nothing quite like ending the perfect day on the water with an ice cream cone on the beach.
Best Time to VisitThe answer to this question is more about what you are hoping for in your North Carolina beach getaway! If you’re wanting to just lay on the beach, summer brings in fairly high temperatures, so it’s best to be right on the water from June through August! Think gorgeous fall colors are only found in New England? Think again! North Carolina is painted in reds, golds and oranges from late September to early October. The temperature is still mild in the winter, especially along the coast, so it’s perfect for meandering through some of our shopping districts. In the spring, temperatures are warming up and the crowds and humidity are low.
