The Basics

The Carter House Inns is an enclave of three magnificent Victorians perched alongside Humboldt Bay in Old Town Eureka. The luxurious accommodations are paired with the sumptuous dining at Restaurant 301 (considered among Northern California's best restaurants), setting an indulgent tone for a marvelous visit to the giant redwood forests, rugged Pacific beaches, and all the other wonders of Redwood Coast. The award-winning wine list and widest bourbon selection make our bar a local gem.

Great place to stay with our two dogs! Make sure you call ahead about your dogs as they can only have dogs in half of the hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and we booked a rate that included a complimentary drink and breakfast and it was well worth it! They also gave us a bottle of champagne as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Overall, very thoughtful. The...See More

Just an amazing boutique hotel with first class staff and amazing bar and restaurant. We were on a road trip of one night stays from southern California to Canada and this was a highlight stay. From our check-in with Douglas to Troy's sommelier expertise helping us navigate the massive and impressive and great value wine list. The room linens (especially the towels) were amazing. It is an older property...See More

Currently staying at the Carter House and we couldn’t be happier. We are staying in 301 and really enjoy the room and the space. The staff is super accommodating and feels like family. Restaurant is great (meals were excellent, service was very good, only complaint would be that the bread isn’t good). The hotel could use a little more material on local hikes, it would be nice to have...See More

Great hotel, staff, and location. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable of all things local. They are what is lacking in most chain hotels and will ensure I stay here on my next trip. The bar is well stocked and the bartender provided great conversation.
