Sedona, Arizona is a unique and beautiful part of the country.  With red rocks and buttes as far as the eye can see, a visit to Sedona can feel like you’re stepping into a different world. Along with the wondrous natural environment, there are so many options to enjoy fine dining and shopping if you’re wondering what to do in Sedona during your trip.  Here are just a handful of ideas of what to do in Sedona. Outdoor Activities

The big attraction in Sedona is definitely the landscape.  Beautiful red sandstone formations and buttes define the terrain.  The canyons and rocks are not only visually stunning, they also provide ample opportunity for outdoor activity. Slide Rock State Park is a destination for those wanting to hike around some of the area’s famed rocks or go down the natural slide created by Oak Creek.  The other state park in Sedona is Red Rock State Park, which is an important riparian habitat.   For other places to enjoy great views, hiking, and more, check out these places: Cathedral Rock, Red Rock Scenic Byway, Broken Arrow Trail, and Oak Creek Canyon. Iconic Thunder Mountain has great trails and amazing views. Stargazing is also a great option if you need to know what to do in Sedona. Either find a spot on your own, or go with a guide to see millions of stars in the night sky that you probably won’t see at home.

Restaurants & Bars

Sedona is more than just scenic vistas and great outdoor adventures.  The town is home to some great restaurants and bars.  A local drink specialty is the prickly pear margarita, which uses a syrup derived from the prickly pear cactus in addition to traditional margarita ingredients. The restaurant selections range from fine dining to casual fare. A favorite romantic spot is L’Auberge Restaurant on Oak Creek which has a French-American menu and creekside dining.

Shopping

If you need a break from hiking, climbing, and exploring, you can enjoy retail therapy in Sedona.  There are a number of places to buy contemporary & fine art, specialty gifts, clothing, outdoor gear, and Native American crafts and jewelry. Tlaquepaque bills itself as the “Art and Soul of Sedona” and is a must visit during your time in the area. See artisans at work, browse their wares, and get some great keepsakes.
